Syssy the mermaid was gathering sea-glass when a tiny star fell — plop — into her hands.
'Oh,' the star whispered. 'I'm so tired I can't twinkle anymore.'
Syssy made a tiny bed out of a curled leaf and a piece of dandelion fluff.
She sang a quiet song her mother used to sing, and the tiny star closed its tiny eyes.
By morning, the star was gone — back in the sky, twinkling brighter than before.
'Rest is brave,' Syssy whispered. And she yawned, and curled up too.
